Highway Patrol Roblox: How to Recognize and Survive Mafia Criminals Attacks

Learn to spot the "mafia incoming" warning in Highway Patrol [Alpha], survive Mafia Criminals assaults by driving away or fighting back, and still reach the end of the highway to save the hostages.

Mafia Criminals attacks in Highway Patrol [Alpha] come with a warning: your dispatcher shows an on-screen "mafia incoming" message with a countdown timer, and the radio confirms the assault is on its way. A demonstrated way to survive one and keep your run alive is simple — be back in your patrol car before that countdown hits zero and drive on toward the end of the highway. The game description tells you to patrol and police the highway, reach the end to save the hostages, and "watch out for the Mafia Criminals." Encounters interrupt that patrol, but they don't end it.

How to recognize a mafia attack

Two signals tell you an attack is coming before you see a single criminal:

  1. A countdown from the dispatcher. An on-screen message says "mafia incoming" with a timer — 10 seconds in one observed session, though the exact time can vary.
  2. A radio dispatch. It reads: "Radio dispatch, mafia assault incoming. Stick together and shoot out the tires."

Once the attack starts, it can take several forms:

EncounterWhat you'll see
Armed vehicleA car working the road and kidnapping pedestrians
Road blockCriminals blocking the highway ahead
AmbushMultiple criminals crowding you at once
PursuitThe mafia chasing behind your patrol car
Hideout stopA dispatcher-directed detour to a hideout full of criminals "worth taking in"

The game is in Alpha, so where and how these encounters appear can shift after updates — check the Updates page for what has changed.

Survive by driving

  • Reach your patrol car before the countdown expires and drive away. This is the demonstrated survival move: the moment the timer appeared in one session, the players scrambled ("Get in, get in, get in"), and after a wave they said "We should drive. Go. Go. Go." The escape only works if you get to the car in time, so if you're on foot when the warning starts, head straight for it.
  • Expect another timer after a wave. One session showed "another one in 19 seconds." Waves keep coming on timers, and you don't have to win every fight — your real objective is the end of the highway.

For the driving itself, see the police car controls guide.

Or fight back

You don't have to flee every assault:

  • Group up. The dispatch's own advice is "Stick together and shoot out the tires" — grouped players handle the assault better, and tires are the target dispatch calls out when the mafia comes at you in vehicles.
  • The default baton works. Players killed mafia attackers with it during a road-block ambush.
  • Buy stronger weapons with run cash. A gear shop stocks grenades, smoke bombs, flash bangs and an RPG — one session listed a taser at 400 cash while the player had 800 on hand. The cash comes from the run itself; clearing a hideout in one session even yielded a money bag off a downed criminal.
  • Be careful with heavy weapons. An RPG blast in one session wiped out the entire team — friendly fire is a real risk when you're grouped up.

If you die, the run ends for you

Dying to hostile opposition ends the run for that player. The demonstrated recovery is leaving the game and rejoining. That risk is exactly why the drive-away option is worth remembering: a fresh wave arriving while you're standing in the open can end your patrol in seconds.

Keep heading for the end

Every mafia encounter — assault waves, pursuits, even the hideout detour — is an interruption on the way to the run's actual goal: reaching the end of the highway and saving the hostages. Fight when you're grouped and geared; otherwise get in the car and drive. For what happens when you arrive, see the hostage rescue guide.
